The mission of the Alaska Mission for Christ is to share Christ
in the Last Frontier (Alaska), its neighboring areas in the LCMS,
and throughout the world.
This mission is accomplished by training lay leaders in communities too small
to have a pastor or church building. An extensive program of lay training is
used to provide authentic Christian ministry to these small and often remote
communities.
In addition, AMC works with more than 600 volunteers each summer to coordinate
and teach Vacation Bible School (VBS),assist with youth servant events,
nail-and-hammer construction projects, and a variety of other ministries.
The AMC
annually sponsors mission trips to Honduras where volunteers work among
people living in the dump.
The roadside ministry uses a pickup truck and fifth-wheel trailer for transportation
and living quarters for mission personnel. Heading the AMC roadside ministry
are Ken and Sandi Schauer, KenSchauer@amc-inc.org, based in Chugiak.
