Leadership and Governance

Zion Lutheran Church uses the Carver model form of governance. The following individuals are elected and serve as members of the Leadership Council, which meets regularly to oversee the business of the congregation:

Phil Newton, President
Carey Atkinson, Vice President
Kerry Gronewold, Secretary
Steve Lundgren, Treasurer
Bret Helms, At Large Member
DeLaine Jensen, At Large Member
Tony Johansen, At Large Member
Karen Milne, At Large Member
Bill Slayden, Chair of the Committee of the Pastoral Office


The congregation meets annually, with special meetings called as needed.


Connections with other
Organizations

Open Arms CDC:
Zion owns the Open Arms Child Development Center which operates under its own bylaws and board of directors. Board members are elected by the congregation.

Samaritan Counseling:
Zion partners with other churches in the community to provide counseling services.  The Director of the center is an associate pastor at Zion.

Love INC:
Zion is one of over forty churches which support this ministry to the needy of our community. 

Lutheran Church:
Zion is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and geographically linked to the Northwest District of the LC-MS.
