Dan
Treakle is a lay minister and pilots a Piper Navajo Chieftain. He
is an ace pilot with over 34,000 flying hours under his
belt. Among
other services, Dan transports Vacation Bible School
teams from Lutheran congregations from all over the U.S.
to many remote communities in the interior of Alaska.
Over the course of many years, Dan has developed
a special relationship with many native people in these communities.
He frequently shares the Gospel with them during worship services
and Bible studies.

The Lutheran
Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. is
a cross-cultural ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ
in remotes areas of Alaska, Canada and the Olympic Peninsula
of Washington state.
Native people living here are caught between their traditional
cultures and conflicting western values. They look forward to
hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ shared within their own
cultural context.
The Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots U.S. serves
by providing . . .
Spiritual witness and nurture which is culturally sensitive.
We help native people develop their own unique Christian
witness, using traditional languages and culture.
-
Social healing achieved by empowered communities. We are
a bridge of healing and reconciliation among people of diverse
cultures.
-
Spiritual enrichment realized by donors and volunteers. Each
year hundreds of volunteers come to share fellowship
through Gospel witness.
-
Co-operation among Christian churches and ministries. We
share witness and resources with Christian ministries throughout
the far North.
Fairbanks is an important base of operations for Lutheran Association
of Missionaries and Pilots U.S., with mission teams providing Vacation
Bible School and other church services to the northern third of Alaska.
Dan Treakle, Staff Pilot/Lay Minister, and many of the mission volunteers
are members of Zion.
